
April French received her Bachelors in Science in ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ, with a minor in Communication from the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 2002. She received her PhD. in Chemical Education from the University of Kansas in 2007. Her dissertation work was on informal science education occuring within science museums. She worked as a Assistant Professor in ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana, for four years. There she taught General, Organic, Biochemistry for Nursing students, it's laboratory, Organic ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Laboratory, and Physical Sciences, among other courses, both in-person and online.
At the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ, she is the General ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Laboratory Coordinator. In this role, she oversees approximately 55 sections of students, 25 teaching assistants each semester, over two courses. During her time here at UK, she oversaw the move of the General ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Labs from the basement of the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ-Physics Building to the new Jacobs Science Building.
She also coordinates ChemCamp, is involved in Science Olympiad, and is the Biennial Conference on Chemical Education (BCCE) 2024 Workshop and Safety Chair.
