A research study performed by Dr. Dmytro Havrylyuk, Dr. David Heidary, Leona Nease, Dr. Sean Parkin, and Dr. Edith Glazer was profiled on the back cover of the journal The European Journal of Inorganic ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ for a special cluster issue titled "Metal Anticancer Complexes – Activity, Mechanism of Action and Future Perspectives".
The Small-Molecule in the Department of ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ has been awarded a prestigious and highly competitive grant from the Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) program of the National Science Foundation (NSF). The award of $383,133 (70% NSF, 30% UK matching funds) will fund the acquisition of a state-of-the-art microfocus X-ray diffractometer.
Prof. John Anthony's publication titled "The Effect of Regioisomerism on the Crystal Packing and Device Performance of Desymmetrized Anthradithiophenes" was selected as a Hot Article for 2015 in the Journal of Materials ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ C, and as such it has been included in the Hot Article 2015 web collection, which can be viewed .
¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Department of ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ researchers Edith Glazer, Sean Parkin and students Erin Wachter and Diego Moyá recently published a study showing that specialized compounds containing the metal ruthenium may be able to visualize or damage specific DNA structures relevant for cancer.
Sean Parkin uses x-ray technology to determine the molecular structure of crystals for the UK ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Department. UK's Crystallography lab has some of the best equipment in North America.
